EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH RI LAW ENFORCEMENT (RI POLICE AND PUBLIC SAFETY)

Federal and RI state laws require RI Law Enforcement (RI Police and Public Safety) entities to ensure that communications with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people i.e. applicants, companions, arrestees, victims, and witnesses are as effective as communications with hearing people. Under Title II of American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Law Enforcement entities are obligated to provide sign language interpreters, captioning services, and technology devices needed to communicate effectively with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

Below is information, material, resources (ADA), and training videos for the RI Law Enforcement and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
